A Roseanne TV show revival has been announced, and fans of the former show are more than excited about seeing the Conner family back on their television sets. However, with a new batch of episodes comes a lot of questions about where the characters will be in present day, and how the show will address Dan’s shocking death in the finale of the original series.
According to TVLine, Roseanne ended with a lot of crazy revelations. The entire finale season of the show, which was wacky and weird to say the least, was revealed to be just a story that Roseanne made up for a book she was writing about her life. The leading lady revealed in the final moments of the series that she had changed the things that she didn’t like in her life for the book, such as her daughter’s relationships, her mother’s sexuality, and her husband’s fate.
Roseanne revealed that in her real life Becky and Mark were not married, but that Becky had ended up with David. Meanwhile, her other daughter Darlene had married Mark. She also claimed that her husband Dan had died from a heart attack that fans watched him suffer in an earlier season. The finale stunned many longtime viewers, and raises so many questions about the characters now that a revival has been confirmed.

However, fans who were worried about seeing all the series finale changes in the reboot can rest easy. Sources have revealed that Dan will be “very much alive” when the revival begins airing next year. In fact, the new episodes will “pretend like it never even happened.”
As for the rest of the Roseanne series finale revelations, sources claim that pretty much “everything that went down” in the original series finale will be completely ignored when the show returns for its revival. Of course, most fans were happy to hear that the series will be very reminiscent of the former show.
There is currently no word on what the Conner family will be up to in the 2018 revival of the show, but things will seemingly be different for at least some of the characters. The show will have to explain the absence of Becky’s husband, Mark, or recast the role altogether. Actor Glenn Quinn, who played the role, tragically died in 2002 at the age of 32 from a drug overdose.
Some fans believe that the Roseanne revival will kill off the character of Mark, and write a new storyline for Becky, the Conner’s oldest daughter. Meanwhile, there is no word on whether the characters of David and Darlene will still be together, While Johnny Galecki is expected to appear in the new set of episodes, Darlene actress Sara Gilbert could have other plans for her former character, such as a gay storyline.
While not much is known about the revival, fans are hoping for the same heartwarming and hilarious family from the original series. Although the family is sure to have changed a lot over the past decade, fans are also hopeful that the show will produce yet another Halloween episode, as the original series became known for its over the top spooky episodes.
The Roseanne revival will begin airing in the spring of 2018 on ABC and original cast members, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, and Lecy Goranson will all be returning. Sarah Chalke, who played Becky in later seasons will also return to the franchise in a different role, perhaps Darlene’s wife or girlfriend?
What are your thoughts on the latest Roseanne revival news? Are you glad the show will seemingly ignore the events of the series finale?
